Problem Solving: Techniques Through Effective Communication

In any partnership or collaborative relationship, there will be issues. In this session, participants will be given several strategies to assist them through the chaotic stages of problem-solving through effective listening and strength-based language. This will be a session that requires the participants to actively engage in the problem-solving framework using strategies and skills taught.

Objectives:

  1. Acquire strength-based language skills
  2. Actively use effective listening techniques
  3. Use a problem-solving framework to solve and document issues
  4. Practice using effective strategies for giving critical feedback

Presented by:

Dodi Hodges, PhD

Dr. Hodges is an author, educator, and speaker who uses strength-based language and active engagement to help her audience find solutions that meet their needs. Through her extensive experience in training, teaching, and administration, she helps business leaders and staff become better leaders, communicators, and agents of change.

Prior to starting her own consulting firm, Dr. Hodges was the Director of CeTEAL, a widely successful university faculty development center located at Coastal Carolina University (CCU). In this capacity she helped university instructors, lecturers, and professors to master teaching strategies, integrating technology in teaching, leadership skills, and writing skills leading towards publication.

Dr. Hodges’ extensive experience also includes: tenured faculty member at CCU, tenure-line faculty member at Bowling Green State University, administrator for a county Head Start program, a consultant for the Michigan Head Start Association, a special educator for children with behavioral and emotional issues, a corporate trainer, and teacher educator.

Dr. Hodges earned her Masters and PhD at Indiana University-Bloomington focusing on organizational change through collaboration/teaming, leadership, and curriculum and instruction.
