Michael Schenk, Senior Benefits Compliance Consultant
USI Insurance Services

As Senior Compliance Consultant for USI Insurance Services (USI), Michael serves the Midsouth Region. His responsibilities include assisting with the benefits compliance function in support of the Region’s USI professionals with respect to the Affordable Care Act, ERISA, tax, and other legal compliance needs of their clients’ health and welfare benefit plans.

Prior to joining USI (formerly Wells Fargo Insurance) in June 2009, Michael worked for 12 years in the employee benefits practices of a large national law firm as well as a large Carolinas-based firm.

Michael has extensive experience relating to the compliance, design, drafting, and training support for all types of health and welfare, and fringe
benefit plans, as well as tax-qualified and nonqualified retirement plans.

He has a J.D., cum laude, and a B.B.A. in Finance. He is a frequent public speaker on the ACA and various other employee benefits topics.



Jonathan Crotty, Partner
Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein, LLP

Jonathan Crotty has been a successful counselor and problem solver for large and small employers in the Carolinas and beyond for more than 20 years. He heads Parker Poe's Employment & Benefits Practice Group and represents employers in all aspects of the employment relationship, from hiring to discharge.

Jonathan provides guidance to employers as they navigate the complex array of laws and regulations applicable to the employment relationship, including employment discrimination laws, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and wage and hour matters. If employers face legal or administrative claims resulting from their employees and employment practices, he defends and resolves those disputes in line with the client's goals and expectations.

Jonathan earned a BA, magna cum laude, and a JD, with distinction, from Duke University.
